May Update

Happy May from Children’s Dental Clinic! We hope all our patients are safe and well. Many of you are probably wondering what your child’s next visit with Dr. Miller will look like. We want to reassure you that our team is planning the most efficient way to complete your appointment with the least amount of risk to you, your family, and our staff. We have kept up-to-date with recommendations and have role-played patient appointments.

Here is what to expect when you and your child visit our office again; prior to your appointment date with us we will ask important screening questions and once you arrive for the appointment, we will ask these questions again to prevent anyone who is feeling ill or showing any of the symptoms from coming into the office. Upon arrival we will take temperature readings, we have set up a hand sanitizing station for everyone’s use, and we are requiring anyone that comes and/or stays in our office to wear a mask. Please be prepared to anticipate longer and staggered appointment times to decrease the number of patients at the clinic at one time and allow us sufficient time to disinfect and clean between patients. Please be aware that we are limiting the number of parents and family members in the waiting room to allow for social distancing.

That’s a lot of new office implementations to remember! Don’t worry, patients will receive instructions on our new safety protocols by way of email and text. We will be asking parents to call or text the office when they arrive and wait for instructions to enter the office. We ask anyone who does not feel well to call our office to reschedule their appointment.

The Children’s Dental Clinic team has missed our patient contacts at the office. However, all of us here at the clinic have taken advantage of time away to spend missed time with our families, more time outdoors, and have even checked off a few home improvement projects! We have been enjoying going for bike rides, walks, or just keeping up with yard or garden chores.

During quarantine, a lot of people have spent time baking and cooking new meals. Dr. Miller loves pumpkin pie! However, it is usually the flaky crust that tips the scale. She loves this recipe from a SuperFoods Rx cookbook called Patty's Pumpkin Pudding. It tastes like the pie with just the good stuff!

1/2 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 large eggs
15 ounce can 100% pure pumpkin
12 ounce can evaporated milk

Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves in a small bowl. Beat eggs in a large bowl. Stir in pumpkin into the sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk. Pour into a shallow ovenproof dish and bake in 350-degree oven for about 40 minutes. The center should be slightly wiggly. Enjoy cool, room temperature or warm!

Dr. Miller has been in contact with her family more now than ever! During this time, it’s important to remember we aren’t alone. It is important to lift each others spirits and try to be as positive as possible. In the big picture, we are all truly blessed and have many things to be grateful for! It is nice to be reminded of that from time to time.

Once Dr. Miller is back in the office she’s looking forward to LESS EMAILS! Since the stay at home order, Dr. Miller has communicated mainly through emails and texts. She’s looking forward to taking a break from her computer and phone if she can.

Please continue to stay safe and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!
